We are proud to release a brand new full lenght album by N.Y. legend Rhys Chatham. The Bern Project presents six new compositions that Chatham recorded in Bern together with swiss musicians Julian Sartorius (drums), Mago Flueck (electric bass) and Beat Unternährer (trombone). The best parts of many hours of recordings were mixed, edited and complemented by Hinterzimmer's Reto Mäder and became some kind of the first Rhys Chatham album with band since 1987s "Die Donnergötter"... The second full-length album from Rashomon (aka Guapo founding member Matt Thompson) follows 2007s "The Ruined Map (Film Music Volume 1)". Inspired by John Kirsh's scaremongering public information broadcast "The Finishing Line" (1977), the record is a sonic re-imagining of the film as a haunted meditation on the power of memory, drawing the listener into a claustrophobic sense of unease and mounting horror. An amalgam of library music, 1970s prog soundtracks, musique concrète and spectral jazz, the music of Rashomon is by turns creepy, terrifying, artless then all the way back to creepy again. We are proud to start the new year with 2 wonderful releases: Minenhund is the new record of Herpes Ö DeLuxe- and Sum Of R-member Christoph Hess aka Strotter Inst. from Switzerland. This CD is co-released with Baltimores fine label Public Guilt (Zu, Aluk Todolo, Darsombra, Dälek...) and comes in a beautiful recycling cardboard packaging including poster insert. Minenhund is a rumbling beast with a raw, psychedelic touch, full of warm and dense sound structures, looping rhythms and multilayered broken beats. Although generally created with manipulated Lenco turntables and effect pedals, the music of Strotter Inst. has more in common with the anti-electronica of Pan Sonic or the early minimalism of Steve Reich, than to other experimental turntablists like eRikm, Philip Jeck or Christian Marclay. The second new release comes from a magical band from Wisconsin, USA: Kinit Hers’ Glyms or Beame of Radicall Truthes pulls its magico-philosophical inspiration from a wide array of sources from the Purple Analects of Taoism, to the Western esoteric tradition, up to modern day conspiracy theories. Musically, the record is informed by the 80's british underground experimental scene, 90's Scandinavian black metal, and the timelessness of all folk currents. The CD presents 12 new songs and is their official debut album after a couple of tape releases. It comes in a beautiful recycling cardboard packaging printed by Portlands’ Stumptown Printers.
